Block Island is part of the U.S. state of Rhode Island and is located in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 13 miles (21 km) south of the coast of Rhode Island. Housing and Meals
Students live in the International Housing Village, a self-contained, private complex of motel-style dormitory rooms, exclusively for Busch Gardens and Water Country USA employees. Students from many countries live together at the village. The Village features a large community building with games, areas to relax, a large kitchen where students can prepare their own meals, and an internet café with high-speed computer connections. Transportation from the Village to the parks is provided free of charge.
The cost of housing is $77 per week.
Pay and Hours
The pay rate per hour for students is $7.65-$8 depending on the position you are given. During July and August, when the park is open 7 days a week, you can expect to get 32-40 hours of work per week. The average minimum hours in September and October (when the park is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday) is 24 hours per week. Typically students often work 30-34 hours per week. Extra hours are sometimes available in the park and if students want to earn additional money, there are many second or third jobs they can apply for in the local area.

Pay Rate: $8.00 per hour. No tips allowed. Overtime is paid 1.5 times the regular wage. Overtime starts applying after 40 hours worked in the same week.
Work Hours: Participants will have a flexible schedule that may change each week based on the business needs. The participants are expected to work weekends, since this is the busiest time for the business. The business is open 7 days per week from the end of May to August 22nd. Outside this period, the business is open weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and for special events only.
Job DescriptionSales Associate / Photographer
Adds value to the business guests by enhancing and extending their experience through the processing and sales of high quality photos. They are responsible for meeting daily photo sales objectives while providing the highest quality guest experience possible. Customer sales and/or service experience in a retail or service industry is preferred.
Primary Job Duties:
- Listens to, understands and anticipates customer needs. Takes proactive steps to follow up on requests and insure customer satisfaction.
- Enhances the guest experience by delivering excellent customer service.
- Responsible for site preparedness, stocking, cleaning and organization.
- Responsible for adhering to the dress code and appearance guidelines.
- Responsible for handling all equipment safely with care.
- Responsible for following all company policies and procedures, including cash handling.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills required
- Employees must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, and walk long distances within the site
- Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.

The Inn takes pride in the impression that its employees make. Appearance plays an important role in the way that guests are served. Employees are expected to wear appropriate neat and clean job specific work attire. Cleanliness and caring for personal hygiene is a requirement. Employees should bathe and use deodorant daily.
Hair and fingernails should be kept appropriate for health, safety and grooming standards set forth by the Inn. An employee's dress and appearance should project a level of professionalism, while allowing him or her to work in a relaxed environment.
It is especially important that employees wear closed toed comfortable shoes or sneakers, no heels for cleaning and especially in kitchen & dining room.
